Advent: The Season of Hope, Love, Joy and Peace — Really?
In traditional churches, the days that begin four Sundays before Christmas
are called the season of Advent. Specific attributes are attached to each of
these Sunday. Can we learn anything from these traditions, or should we dismiss
them as "old, dead ritual"?
You read the Unsermon and decide for yourself!
We tried a little "group" singing by starting with a song the children can
easily learn: "Jesus Loves Me." The words to this song can be true for you, no
matter what you believe about who Jesus was and is! That's what makes
this little song so timeless and unrivaled in Christian tradition.
And while we're talking about who Jesus was and is, let us draw your
attention to the lyrics of Jackson Browne's insightful song, "The Rebel Jesus,"
which we heard on CD and which is linked below.
