Who is Jesus?
Before our June 2 worship gathering, we were asked to think about the question "Who
is Jesus?" - not just what others say, but who he is to you. After
we discussed the spectrum of concepts about Jesus, we went over to a cord that
was taped to the floor. One end represented the most traditional view of Jesus
(only Son of God, only way to God, cleansing blood, etc.); the other end
represented the perspective that Jesus was a good man who had a lot of wisdom to
share. Each of us found a spot that felt about right to describe where
we are in our journey of belief about Jesus. Needless to
say, we were all over the cord, from near one end to near the other end and
everywhere in the middle. See the evening's unsermon for concluding comments.
We also celebrated Communion together again, as we will do every time we
gather, just as Jesus suggested.
